The herbs in the proprietary blend in Liver-Clear, all have long historical uses in traditional medicines found all over the world.
Milk Thistle has been historically popular in Europe as a tonic for the liver, the body's second largest organ. Milk Thistle is full of flavonoids (also known as bioflavonoids) and called 'Vitamin P.'
Turmeric has been used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for centuries due to its active chemical ingredient, Curcumin. Curcumin is the main component inside Turmeric and has many beneficial properties.
Dandelion root is an incredibly rich source of Vitamin A, more so than carrots, in fact. It also has been shown to be a promising diuretic in humans, helping to flush our organs.
Licorice root's main chemical component is glycyrrhizic acid and the benefits that have been correlated along side of it to stimulate the body naturally.
Artichoke leaf extract has been shown to have antioxidant properties, and can stimulate the production of bile by the liver. Studies are being done that show that Artichoke leaf can support detoxification and liver function.

1. The greens of the Dandelion are edible.
2. Milk Thistle is one of the most commonly used supplements in the US.
3. Turmeric is responsible for the yellow dye in Indian fabrics.
4. Licorice root is generally not actually used as flavoring for licorice candy.
5. Artichokes are actually flowers. If the Artichoke plant is left unharvested, a large purple spiky-looking flower will bloom.

Milk Thistle has been shown to protect the liver from toxins and pollutants by preventing free radical damage and stimulating the production of new liver cells. Preparations of Milk Thistle are used as a stimulant for functional disorders of liver and gallbladder, including jaundice, gallbladder colic, and diseases of the spleen. It has also been found helpful for dyspepsia, toxic liver damage, hepatic cirrhosis, and as a supportive treatment in chronic inflammatory liver disease.
Turmeric
Studies show that Turmeric has been found helpful in fighting free radicals, protecting the liver against toxins, inhibiting platelet aggregation, aiding in circulation, lowering cholesterol levels, and improving blood vessel health. Turmeric has been shown to have antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties, and is also good for support of arthritic conditions. Turmeric is heing tested as a mild and effective anti-inflammatory treatment for ulcerative colitis and dyspeptic complaints. Indian medicine has traditionally used Turmeric for inflammation, skin wounds and ulcers, itching, stomach complaints, flatulence, conjunctivitis, constipation, ringworm, and colic.
Dandelion Root and Root Extract
Dandelion acts as a diuretic and has been used to cleanse the blood and liver, and increase bile production. Dandelion can be used to reduce serum cholesterol and uric acid levels, and improve function of the kidneys, pancreas, spleen, and stomach. Dandelion Root preparations have been found useful for abscesses, anemia, boils, cirrhosis of the liver, constipation, fluid retention, jaundice, and rheumatism. Dandelion has also been used for complaints of dyspepsia, liver and gallbladder, and infections of the urinary tract. Indian medicine has used Dandelion for chronic ulcers, tuberculosis, colic, kidney disease, gout, jaundice, and biliary stones.
Licorice Root and Root Extract
Licorice Root has been found to fight inflammation and viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections. It can also stimulate the production of interferons and cleanse the colon. Many more benefits of Licorice Root may be reduction of muscle spasms, increased fluidity of mucus in the lungs and bronchial tubes, and promotion of adrenal function. It has also been shown to be beneficial for allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue, depression, emphysema, enlarged prostate, fever, herpes virus infection, hypoglycemia, glandular functions, inflammatory bowel disorders, menopausal symptoms, and upper respiratory functions.
Artichoke Leaf Extract
Artichoke Leaf Extract has been tested in occurences of gastritis, heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, and high cholesterol. It has also been used to aid in the protection of blood vessel integrity. Artichoke leaf has been used for liver, gallbladder, and digestive complaints, as well as dyspepsia.
